The railroad returns for the first three months under Government operation, show that the receipts amounted to 71,000,000 dollars, as compared with 179,000,000 dollars last year.
. Mr Calhoun, commenting on Senator Chamberlain's resolution for an enquiry into tho conduct of the war. says that he will regard the resolution, if it is passed, as a direct vote of want of confidence in his administration.
WASHINGTON, May 16. Mr W. G. McAdoo Secretary of the Treasury, estimates the revenue for the year onding June to be 4,095,000,000 dollars.
