Victor Francois Renaud (Mr Hunter) pleaded not guilty to charges of being drunk while in chargo of a horse and cart, and also driving without lights. The charge of drunkenness was dismissetl, but on the second charge a fine or 20s was imposed, with costs. William Dwvling was fined 10s and costs for driving a vehicle without lights. . Claude McDonald was fined 10s and costs for riding a cycle on the footpath. William Harris pleaded not guilty to driving a vehicle at other than a walking pace across a street intersection. A fine of 5s and costs was inflicted.

Leonard Andrews was fined ss, with costs, for riding a bicycle on the Ashburton railway platform. W. J. S. McDowell (Mr Acland) hrought an action against W. J. Maddern (>Er Buchanan) for trespass in a cottage and on land at Hinds. Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay costs. In a civil case, Manchester Bros. v. J. Iviernan, claim £16 6s lOd, judgment was given for plaintiffs. Judgment for plaintiff, by default, was given in J. E. Rule v. J. W. Chapman, claim £19 12s Bd. Tn a judgment summons case, Osman v. Legge, claim £0 9s 6d, an order "was made for immediate payment, in default seven days' imprisonment. ASSAULT ON CLERGYMEN. (PRESS ASSOCIATION" TELEGRAM.) PALMERSTON NORTH. May 1. Michael Reglian, -who was found puilty yesterday, of assault on the Rev. F. Stockwell at Feilding in February, was sentenced at the Supreme Court today to two months' imprisonment with hard labour.
