THEIR MAJESTIES' SILVER WEDDING.

LONDON, May 15. Lord Stamfordham, Private Secretarv to tho King, has "written to the Lord Mayor of London, stating that their Majesties are touched by tho Londoners' generous wish to present a memento to commemorate their silver wedding. Their Majesties feel in wartime that nothing should be diverted from charitable purposes, but are led to make an exception to receive a gift only from the capital of the Empire.
CONTROL OF LOCAL TRANSPORT
LONDON, May 15
A drastic regulation under the Defence of tho Realm Act empowers tho Board of Trade to requisition horses and horse vehicles for the road transport of any goods, and also to restrict the carriage of certain classes of goods to specified roads, and otherwise fix routes for transport.
