Lord Stamfordham, Private Secretarv to tho King, has "written to the Lord Mayor of London, stating that their Majesties are touched by tho Londoners' generous wish to present a memento to commemorate their silver wedding. Their Majesties feel in wartime that nothing should be diverted from charitable purposes, but are led to make an exception to receive a gift only from the capital of the Empire.
