SAILORS' DAY.

MAY 24th, 191S

Have you ever thought how much wo owe to our sailors?

Without our mercantile marine the war would have brought this Dominion to a financial crisis unparalleled in history.

Many of these brave fellows have been torpedoed several times when carrying our products. Yet they continue to sign on and brave the dangers of the deep.

Realising these facts, you must see what a debt we owo to the men of our mercantile marine.

These men, the men on our minesweepers and auxiliary fleet, do not come uudor any permanent pension scheme, and when disabled they and their relatives thus depend upon voluntary aid, which is generously rendered by the British and Foreign • Sailors' Society, who send, every week, thousands of parcels of food to interned seamen, and who have afforded shelter, food, and clothing to the passengers "and crew of hundreds of torpedoed vessels, at their various rests. Gorman however, imposes a continuous drain upon the resources and philanthropic work of this Society, and it is with a view to augmenting their funds for war work exclusively that the Sailors' Day Committee has resolved to raise a sum of not less than £8000 by May 24th. In a great national crisis everyone is expected to fight, work, or pay. Your duty is to pay; send your donation today. . JOHJi ANDERSON, Chairman. ALBERT KAYE, Hon. Treasurer.
