NEW BRIGHTON TRAM LINE TO THE EDITOR or "THE PRESS."

i Sir, —Allow me a little space ir», your valuable paper to draw attention to | the state of tho tram lines in Buckley's | road on to Wainoni, which in some places are several inches above the road, making: it, dangerous for all wheel traffic, especially cyclcs and motorcycles. I understand that several accidents havo occurred during the past few davs, but fortunately none has resulted seriously, otherwise this danger would certainlv have been ventilated long before. The tall trees round Wainoni make the road slippery, and with the state of tho tramway lines, there is no_ doubt that unless something is dono without delay, a serious accident is sure to take place. I hope the Tramway Board will give this matter their immediate attention. —Yours, etc., PUBLIC SAFETY. PICTURE THEATRES. 10 THE EDITOR OV "TUE ritESS." Sir,—A letter in this morning's issue of your paper, regarding picture shows in general t tempts me to pursue thesubject a little farther, and ask how it is that during the school holidays, not one of our numerous theatres has: managed to screen an afternoon pro-1 gramme suitable throughout for child-' ren. Scanning the advertisemehts a I perplexed mother wonders how such subjects as, for example, "A Neglected Nile," can possibly be amusing or instructive for young folk. Another question on everybody's present is, Where is our Efficiency Board ? Men can't be spared to go to the front becauso labour is bo scarco for essential industries, and yet we see men in droves demolishing good up-to-date buildings to build more picturo houses. Surely it is time the matter was taken in hand.—Yours, etc PUZZLED.
