RANGIOBA METHODIST CHURCH. The anniversary services of the Bansfiora Methodist Church were continued on Monday evening, when tie Rev. A. C. Lawry gave an interesting lecture, "Round the "World in Sunshins Betore tho War." to a largo and appreciative audience. The Rev. J. Guv presided. At the clcae c{ ;he lecture Mr F. 3. Lace, secretary and treasurer to the Trust, moved a heartv vote of thanks- to the leciur also to Mr Ernest Firth and his quartet party for the excellent musical treat which they gave on. Sunday afternoon. ST. ALBAXS SCHOOL COMMITTEE. Ai a meeting of tho committee of the St. ! Albans School, it wa3 agreed, in regard to i the laying of the foundation stone of the new portion of the school, that a function be held, that Mr E. H. Andrews be afked to lay the stone, and that a social be held in the evening. Mr R. C. Cartner was ap- ■ pointou second master. Messrs Andrews and Franklin were appointed to interview tho headmaster .end caretaker regarding the schedule of duties. Messrs Macfarlan'c and J. J3. Strcthers were appointed a works committee for the ensuing month. _ The headmaster reported a slight decrease in the attendance. FRUIT CULTIVATION. Between sixty and esventy people attended Mr Courtier's lecture on fruit, cultivation on Monday evening. Mr F. Cave w»3 in .the chair. A very comprehensive syllabus for the winter season was presented to Lite close. It was 'decided to hold a. field day this month at Mr Armstrong's orchard, Pepanui. The subject for tho evening was, "Selection of Orchard Site, Drainage, and Preparation of the Soil." Mr dealt with tho importance of a healthy situation a,nd for the necessity of a largo amount of sunlight for tho colouring of fruit. He also explained methods of drainage and soil preparation. A number of questions were aeked and answered. MUSICIANS' UNION DINNER. j The annua! dinner of the Christchurcli Performing Musicians' Union was held at tha Carlton. Cafe. There was a pood attendance, over which the president, Sir A. Willyams, presided. After dinner a nuaiber of orchestral and vecal items wero given. j r .jy' Bid good, of the Opera House, conducted the orchestra. Tho follevring contributed items: —Misses Maud Courtney, Claire Ijloyd, Polly t)orn".er, E. Duncan. Merle Stewart, Messrs IV. Ma loner. Rep. Moore, G. Martinengo, f. Lawrenco, and "Mr C." During the evening Mr Willyams asked Mr Jacobs to accept a Get of drums and traps to partly replace those Jos* in the fire at His Majesty's Theatre. The gift, he said, waß an expression of practical sympathy from members of tho ni'iSical profession throughout New Zealand.
