AKAROA-WAINUI ROAD BOARD.
The first meeting c f the newly-constituted Akaroa-Wawui lioad Board was held at Duvauchelle on Saturday, when there 'were present—Messrs Geo. Armstrong. T. W. Wilkins.. It. Pettigrew, W. Warner, and D lieiiay.
Mr Armstrong was unanimously re-elected chairman.
A deputation of three ratepayers, headed l>y Mr T. Le Comte, waited -upon tne Board Jo m S° th<> reopening: of tho Gold Spur road. ■The clerk stated that four of the signatories to the petition forwarded to tho last meeting had since withdrawn their support. After the deputation liad withdrawn the Board decided to leave the matter in the hands of its legal advisers.
It was resolved that at least four members of the Board should attend tho conferenoo of Peninsula local bodies to discuss the question of labour and wages. In regard to Buckland's road, Akaroa, it was decided to call for tenders to carry out necessary repairs before the winter.
The financial report showed:—Receipts £66 17b 6d, accounts for payment £90 17s, credit balance Bank of New Zealand £550, rates still outstanding £80
