WANGANUI. May 13. George Thompson, aged about 36, a stoker at the gasworks, was killed by a train colliding with a motor-cycle and sidc-car at the HaJswell street crossing this afternoon. Mrs Thompson was very badly injured, and was taken to tho hospital.

In tho Napoleonic wars 97 per cent, of the deaths of British troops wero due to disease. In the South African campaign 63 pfer cent, of the deaths were also due to this cause.
