SAILORS' DAY.
MAY 24th, 1918
Urgent Empire appeal for .€250,000 from Lady Jellieoo on behalf of the British and Foreign Sailors' Society, to carry on their noblo work among minoWeepers, torpedoed crews, etc., and assist tho dependants of those lost in the service of the Empire. This is a special appeal, in which every family should be interested, and should take a part.
Citizens' Committees have been formed in Christehurcii, Timaru, and Ashburton, and in a matter of tea days have raised £4000. Another £4000 is wanted for the funii before May 24th, and thoso who havo not been waited on personally, or who have not given, should realise their responsibility, and come ' forward with their contributions. Every penny of the money raised will he. devoted to carrying on the splendid work, which means so much to the sailors, in ninny eases stranded thousands of niilc3 from i home and friends.
Anyone who will ponder for a few moments on the above facts mVist surely realise his duty to respond to f this appeal.
