ORDER OF FORESTERS
FINANCING WAR LIABILITIES.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.)
WELLINGTON, May 10. A deputation representing tne High Court of New Zealand Foresters and the Wellington district of the same Order, waited upon tho Hon. A. M". Myers, Acting-Minister of Finance, 10day for the purpose of explaining the difficulties of the societies in financing their war liabilities.
The Minister, in replying, congratulated tho Order on it£ patriotic and self-sacrificing decision at the outbreak of tho war to meet the liability created by members going on active service. He recognised that, the war having lasted so long, many matters now coming up for consideration required to be looked at from a new viewpoint. Jt£e expressed the opinion that a working arrangement between the Financial Assistance Board and the Registrar on behalf of the societies might be possible and might lead to the establishment of a practical scheme to ' deal with future liabilities of the societies for these contributors. It might be practicable to evolve a satisfactory scheme on the lines suggested, and he recommended the societies to furnish the Registrar with data that would enable the Minister for Friendly Societies to present the position to Cabinet.
