HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Horticultural ''ociot.v whs. held last night, Mr F. C. JiapliacK vice-piosirtent, presiding. A vote of thanks was passed to the judges at the recent chrysanthemum shcr.v. It was decided to it ald it garden competition during tho incoming year. Promises of prizes were received, and the list should he a food 011 c. Motions of condolence were moved to Mr C. G. Clark and Mr G. Harper, both of whom have lost sons at tho front. Several alterations were made, to tho rules governing til 2 competitions at the Society's shows.
Some fine blooms were staged, including a very tine Lapigera. "Rosea Stiperba," grown by Mr J. J. Kinsoy in the open air at Clifton. Messrs C. Poulson and Son showed some fine blooms 1 of roses, Miss Wiimot (new rose), and Mrs Brvcc .Allen, and soimi very fine pelargoniums, xlis Majesty" and "Dublin were shown by Mr W. G. C. Beumelburg. Mr t!. 'I'. Taylor showed a very hue eingle clii-ys-an-themum raised by himself, named "Audrey."
