F. Ellis will leave for Wanganui with Bore and Charley either on "Wednesday or Thursday of next week. Owing to a slight lameness behind Bore has not done as much schooling as he might, but otherwise he is in forward condition. F. Ellis goes North to ride tho Calibre gelding in his jumping engagements.

The yearling filly by Kilbroney— Hebrew Maid, has had tho curbs on her hocks fired.-

F. D. Jones has taken Bondage up again. The Boniform—Portland Lass filly lias thickened out and grown during her spell, and she promises to be a handsome filly next season.

The General Latour—Prudish gelding in Jones's stable has been broken in. and is doing well. He is already showing signs of muscular development.

Tlio Broken Hill Joekcy Club bold a race meeting on Saturday, April 27th, its iirst ior many months. The hope that the boycott of the club by the Labour unions had expired was not fulfilled (says the "Australasian"), the boycott being stronger than over. Anonymous leaflets against the, meeting had been froelv circulated, and the attendance was very small, being confined almost entirely to members of the club and a, few friends. The owners of public cabs and taxis refused to run, and the trains engaged by the club were picketed and the names of passengers noted. None of the hotelkeepers cared to undertake tae conduct of a booth, and oniy two bookmakers braved the ukase of the unions. Afternoon tea and luncheon were provided by ladies of tho Bed Cross Society. The totalisator was run by the officials of the club, but was poorly patronised, only £208 passing through it for the afternoon on six races. Although the club only gave away £150 in stakes, .it will lose heavily on tho meeting.
