SHIPPING NOTES. The Canopua is expected to leav© this port to-day for tho West Coast. The vessel has been delayed here owing to the prevalent labour shortage. . The Kahika will be despatched from Wostport to-day with a load of coaJ for Lyttelton. She is duo here to-morrow night. ' The. lvittawa, with a full load of coal, is expected to leave Greymouth to-night for Lvbtelton. making her due here on Sunday. "Mr Thomas Milieu, a widely known chief steward in tho Huddart-Parker Company's Australian-New Zealand service, died suddenly a few days ago from hemorrhage of the brain, while on»his vessel at Nowoastle. The deceased, who was about 65 years of aga, was accorded a Freema-son'-s funeral and was buried at tho Waverley Cemetery, Sydney. He left a widow, but no family. The late Mr Millen was highly esteemed by tho travelling public and. was much respected by those aboard tho vessels on which he was employed. Mr Fred Bowditch, late of a HuddartParker steamer that was recently Bold, Has succeeded to Mr Milieu's position.
