MAGISTRATE'S COURT. At the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Jlessr3 l'\ Knight and W. Cleary, J.P.'s, Duncan Mclntyie was charged with drunkenness, and with obscene language. The information waa laid by two residents of the Port, whose first intimation of accuscd's presence was a loud noise occasioned by hia fall on the roof oi a building from an adjoining embankment. Melntyre pleaded guilty to having been drunk; but raid that he did not remember what had happened. tie claimcd to liave been wounded and gassed at the front, having returned about sis weeks ago. The Bench decided to fine him £5 and costs, in default one month's imprisonment, remarking that thi3 was lenient treatment, considering the serious nature of the offence, whica merited imprisonment without any option. It seemed strange that one who hßd undergone a soldier's strict discipline should so far forget himself as to use such abominable language in the presence of foma'.es. It waa, however, only the. country's indebtedness to its soldiers that had prompted the Bench to leniency in this instance. THE PICTURES. "In Again, Out Again," an Artcraft film produced by the Douglas Fairbanks Company, was presented yesterday aftarnoon and last evening at the Harbour Light Picture Theatre. The same programme will bo repeated to-night.' On Saturday and Monday Ethel Clayton will appear in a World drama entitled "The Stolen Paradise."
