"THE HARPER TOUCH.'
TO TDK EDITOR t)F "THE PRESS."' Sir, —lii the brief account in to-day's issue of the career of Trooper Eric Harper it its mentioned that he loft Trenthum Gamp with the tank of sergeant but became a trooper again in Egypt. May I add this further detail on the authority of ah officer of his regiment: When ho arrived in Egypt, he begged to be relieved of his stripes; he wished to get into the firing-line at once,, and he refused to be set over men ivlio had been in action till he himself had been tried in the ordeal of bttttle. Those -who knew him and his brothers at school will recognise that the significance of thite short note is in its heading.—Youfrs, ctc., O. T. J. ALPERS. May 9th.
