DRUNKENNESS
A female first offender was fined os for drunkenness. John Howard, 011 charges of drunkenness and of casting offensive matter on a public footpath, was convicted on the first charge and fined 40s on the second, in default 14 days' imprisonment. REFORMATIVE TREATMENT.
Mary Speedy pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing an overcoat valued at £3 10s, the property of Beatrice Louisa Ward. She was convicted and sentenced to three years' reformative treatment. CIVIL BUSINESS. Judgment with costs for the plaintiff by default was awarded in each of the following cases:—F. D. Kesteven v. George Wright and Emily Wright, £26 (against the separate estate of defendants), James Rodger and Co. v. James Henry McMahon £5 4s lid, Mason, Struthers and Co., Ltd., v. John Ellison £2 10s 6d, Atlas Biscuit and Confectionery Co. v. John Bryne £9 12s 4d, 31.iP. M. Manning and Co. v. Thos. Stewart £5 18s 9d, F. D. Kesteven v. Charles Nelson £1 15s, G. McCJlatchie and Co., Ltd., v. Frederick Tinman Perkins £1 10s 6d. JUDGMENT FOB PLAINTIFF. In the case of Messrs Gordon and Gotch;- Ltd. (Mr Williams) v. Phillip G. Messervey, a claim for £3 15s for goods sold, judgment was given for tho plaintiff for the amount claimed.
In F. H. Simpson (Mr Thomas) v. H. W. Harrison (Mr Cassidy), a claim for £18 14s for wages due for working on a threshing mill for defendant, judgment was given for plaintiff for £8 17s, less £1 5s 7d paid int-o Court.
