A shortage of silver in many towns in the south-we.-t of Ireland is due to a Sinn Fein campaign, the leaders of which put about a rumour that tho Government intended to repudiate the pound and ten-shilling notes._ The ]>oorer classes immediately invaded shops and tendered notes for purchases often worth a '.!>w pence. The panic continues, and business is greatly hampered. AMERICAN JOURNAL'S COMMENT. SEW YORK, May 7.
