OTIRA TUNNEL.
Sill WILLIAM FRASER'S VISIT.

Tho Hon. Sir William Frascr, Minister of Public "Works, accompanied by Mr Dinnio, engineer in charge of the tunnel, Mr G. Witty, M.P., Mr R. fjemple, and several other local union officials, paid a visit to the tunnel works this morning.
In the afternoon the Minister received a deputation, introduced by Mr Witty, from tho Otira Workers' Union. A number of suggestions were' brought before the Minister, chief of which were the reinstatement of the boy who was recently dismissed, and an increase of wages to the men employed on tho works.
This evening tho Minister received a deputation from tho Otira Hospital Committee, protesting against the closing of tho hospital. The Minister returns overland to Christchurch in the morning, on his way to Wellington.
