A COMPARATIVE STATEMENT* .(SPECIAL TO "THE PftESS.") WELLINGTON, May 7. In view of the fact that married men with children are now being called up for service in this country, the following comparative statement of the rates of pay and allowances in New Zealand and other parts of the British Empire is interesting. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, May 7. The committee of tho Dunedin lieturned Soldiers' Association passed a resolution demanding that increases in allowances and pensions for soldiers be made retrospective to the outbreak of the war, and pointing out that the Minister, by refusing to recognise tho justness of the claim, has placed a lower value on the services of men who joined tho Expeditionary Foroo early in the war than on those who are now going to Jhe front.
