OBITUARY.
Mil J. Hi ANDREWS. „ The funeral of the'lato'Mr Joseph Herdmau Andrews (late of Longbeach) took place at the Riccarton churchyard last week. Born in 1841, in Peebles, Peeblesshire, Scotland. The late Mr Andrews came to the Dominion T U Challenger, Commodore Lambert. He married in 1871 the eldest daughter of.; the late- Troop-Ser-i geant-Major Husband, 7th Hussars, and leaves a widow, three daughters, and nvc sons,' two of v.-hojji are'on active ■ service—Veterinary-Sergeant T. S. An- [ drews, Ctii Reinforcements, and Seri goant A. 31. Andrews, R.F.A., 20th Reinforcements—and 20 grandchildren. ' Another of the early settlers of Otago passed away recently in tlie person of Air John Ihomas Wellbourn, of Broad Bay, Peninsula, in his eighty-fifth year, /r? ') as J . a native of Hull, Yorkshire • tte served in the British_ Navy during the invasion of the Crimea, the battle of Alma, and the siege of Sebastopol. Arriving in New Zealand in 1858 by the'ship Nourmahal, ho took part in the Gabriel's Gullv gold rush. Returning later to Duneie'Ped in the unloading of ships at Oamaru, when it was necessary to wane into the sea to bring the cargo ashore. He was married 60 years ago to Mary Ann Smith, eldest daughter of the late Mr George Smith, of Broad Bay. ...
