SEAMEN'S INSTITUTE. During' tho month of April over 300- seamen and boya availed themselves .of the fncilitic-s for healthy recreation afforded by the Institute, and about 30 officcre made uoo of the club loins. The miseioner, Mr S. Booth, paid 30 visits to vessels in port, and 12 aick seafaring men wero visited on ships and in tho hospital; 340 eeamen. attended Sunday and \veek-jiight services, and 100 attended Sunday teas. Jfine seamen and one officer joined the Seamen's Christian Brotherhood. Twenty New Testaments and -a large qunntity of general literature were distributed among visiting eeamen, SHIPPING DELAYED. Local chipping agents are still having an anxious time endeavouring to procure sufficient 'watersido labour to avoid detaining vessels in tho port longer than neccssary. A shortage of railway tracks is also adding l to_ the difficulties of ships leaving at their scheduled time. Tho Kamona, which was timed to sail to-day, is not likely to bo ready for departure until Thursday, and it is doubtful whether the Karamu, due here early this morning, will get away to-day for V/ostport as advertised. MAGISTRATE'S COURT. At the Lyttclton Court veaterday, before Mr P. Knight, J.P., fn*o first offenders for drunkenness wero. fined 6s and 10b respectively. ■ Erio Holtberg, charged with having been drunk and disorderly in Oxford etroct, was fined 10s and costs, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. .
