SELWYN NUKING DIVISION. The.Seiwyn Nursing Division of th« St. John Ambulanoo Brigade met on Tuaeday, Airs Kuseeil, liady ijuperintend-ent, presiding. Tho iiiet part of the evening waa dovoted to practice in lirst aid, according -to tests.set -under the supervision of the officers, this being lollowod by a very interesting lecture by iJr. Maude i'cro, on "Methods of insuring Good I)igef tion," for which, alter asking' and answering various questions, tho lecturer was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Ono new member was elected. DURHAM STREET METHODIST CHURCH. The adjourned quarterly meeting of the Durham street Methodist Circuit was held on Thursday evening, the Rev. Percy N. Knight presiding. 'jL'he resolution received from the Sydenham quarterly mooting, requesting the Circuit to accept responsibility for the work of. the church on Cashmere Hills was again discussed. After the report of the special committee set up had been given and considered, the meeting agreed to accept charge of the work from January Ist, 19X8, subject to the approval of the District Synod. A, Btnall committee was appointed to welcome returning soldiers and strangers to the church.
SUMNER BAND OF HOPE. Tho breaking-up ceremony in connexion with the Sumner Band of Hope to held last night, when the Rev. W. J. Williams presided over a good attendance. During the evening tho secretary, Minn Hanhaxn, gave a brief resume of the -year's work. Marks had boen given for punctuality, card collectiona, and performances; and resulted in the following receiving prizes:—Dorothy Alexander, 78 marks; Myrtle Cairns, Edna, Heel op, Meg Wiggins, Don Wilson, Florence Blinkinsopp, Jessie Loach, each 72 marks; Jack Heslop, Ellie Abuxn, Gladys Short, Jock Wilson, and Hilda Bamford, each 66 marks; Daphne Aburn, Muriel Whitfield, lan Laureneon, Allan Wilson, Lizzie Dash, Hazel Blinkinsopp, Max Roberta, Allison Wiggins, and Phyllis Loach, each 63 marks. During the evening a programme of recitations, action eongs, dances, and musical items were given, and came in for frequent applause. Items were given by the following :~W. Fen ton, May Barber, Joan Boyes, Edna Gill, ' George Brown, Edna Heslop, Jack Heslop, Dorothy Alexander, Willie MoKenzie, Bessie Brown, Maud Davies, Ngaire Partridge, M. Roberto, Allan Smifheon, Freda Allen. The prizes won during the year were presented by the Rev. W. J. Williams. v
