It is .announced that the P. and O. liner Mongolia struck a mine and sank off Bombay, at noon on June 23rd. The mails were lost. PASSENGERS LANDED AT BOMBAY. MELBOURNE. June 27. News has been received that the passengers of the P. and O. steamer Mongolia, which was sunk in tho Indian Ocean on her way to Australia, have been landed at Bombay. The Mongolia was one of the bestknown liners of the P. and O. Steam Navigation Company. She was a steel screw steamer of 9505 tons, and was built in 1903 by Caird and Co.. Ltd., Greenock. Her dimensions were: Length 520 feet, breadth 58.3 feet, depth 24.8 feet.. THE BRITISH FLEET. INSPECTED BYKING GEORGE. LONDON. June 26.. The King visited the Fleet at its northern base. He arrived amidst one of remarkablo thunderstorms on re'oord, and was met ashore by Lieutenant Prince Albert. Accompanied by Admiral Sir David Beatty, King George inspected in succession the crews of the various flagships. and saw a modern battleship in action,' the officers and men being at their war stations, masked and gloved agamst the risk of cordite flashes.
