SUGGESTION OF A TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT. (srZrtA-, TO "THE press.") WELLINGTON, June 27. For some months past it has been freely rumoured that Sir John Denniston is shortly to rctiro from the Supreme Court Bench and that the Attorney-General, tho Hon. A. L. Herdman, is to succeed him. In tho course of a. conversation with me to-dnv, a gentleman who is in a good position to speak, informed me that in the event of a vacancy shortly occurring in the Supreme Court Bench, it was possible that a temporary judge would bo appointed, and that such temporary juago would be Dr. Salmond, the Solicitor-General.
