Pv AIL WAY.MEN AND HON. J. T. PAUL. (SrXCIAI. TO "THE TUIM.") DUNEDIN, Dcccmber IS. llailw&ymen of all grades arc stated to have passed a resolution of high appreciation of the manner in which the Hon. J. T. Paul fought the. Patriotic Committee for equality of sacrificc during the war and passed a vote of complete satisfaction in him as a labour representative. Commenting on this report, the "Star" says:—AVe are informed by a leading member of the Railways Otiicers' Institute that the claim made in the resolution that '"all grades of railwayman" were represented at the meeting is quite contrary to fact. No representative of the officers' organisation was present. Further, our informant, who is in a position to speak authoritatively on the matter, states emphatically that the great majority of the officers of the Railway Department* entirely disagree with the sentiments expressed in the foregoing resolution. Additional weight is lent to his remarks by the fact that he himself is one of those called up for service as a result of the first ballot. ARREST OF F. R. COOKE.
