MEETING OF GROWERS' COMMITTEE. A meeting of tho Woolgrowers' Com# niittce was held yesterday afternoon, Mr George Gould presiding. Mr G. A. M. Macdonald. representing the South Canterbury branch of the Canterbury Sheepowners' Union, was also present. A telegram was received from the Minister for Agriculture (Hon. W*. D. S. MacDwnaldl stating he would' 1m pleased, when in Christchiirch. to meet the Woolgrowers' Committee. It was decided to arrango & meeting: at a time Miitable to the Minister. The question of the position of contracts made for the purchase of wool was discussed, and it was resolved that tho position of contracts Se brought under the notice of the Minister at the next meeting. Regarding the terms of payment for wool, the stated that h« understood the Government would make cash payments fourteen, days from the termination of each valnation. For the information of sheepfarmers, the committee announced that the present valuation of lamb skins was 6s 6d, which price was made up on a basis of 3s for the pelt and Is Pd per lb for the wool. A meeting of follmongers represent* tiv© of the trado in tho Dominion, held in the Chamber of Commerce, decided that it was — 1. In the best interests of the sheepskin and fellmongery trade that sheepskins should not be commandeered, bul that tho Imperial Government should take slipe wool as delivered at port, leaving an open market for skins, but prohibiting all exportation 2. THE EXPORT OF WOOL. The Collector of Customs in Christ* church yesterday received the following telegram from tho Comptroller of Customs: — "At present only greasy wool may be shipped, and to the following destinations: London, Liverpool, Manchester, Hull, Innjjingham, and Goole. Must bo consigned to 3>irector of Army Contracts. Greasy wool may be shinpod without special permits, hat bills of lading must be consigned as abote, and produced at final port. Other classes of wool «nd woolled sheepekihs cannot at present be shipped."
