A CHRISTMAS APPEAL.

Some little time aeo the Lord Mayor of London, acting for the authorities in London who are charged with maintaining the work of raising funds for the relief of the unhappy people of Belgium, sent out a circular letter asking for co-operation in a plan to raise a special Christmas fund for the mitigation of the unhappiness of the children in Belgium. This appeal has been heard, and steps ax© being, taken to raise money by the various bodies concerned with Belgian relief. The executive of the local Belgium Relief Fund is taking active steps to 6ecure that Canterbury shall make a good showing in a cause which is verv appropriate to the present season. We have opened a subscription list, and every contribution sent in to "The Prees" office will be acknowledged .
