meeting of committee. A meeting: of the general committee of the St. John Ambulance Association was held laet night, Mr A. E. G. Rhodes presiding. The financial statement showed a credit balanoe on the general fund of £200 5s !)d, motor ambulance £150. and amount on deposit to provide lor contingencies £111 Is lid. Xew regulations 'for the formation of male and female classes in connexion with centres, just received by the Association, provide for a course of six lectures in the eubjoct/3 of first aid to tho injure*!, and in home nursing, -in lieu of live lecturer on each subject hitherto set out in the syllabus of the ifspectiv© classes. The matter was left in the hajods of the medical members of the committee to discuss and report upon. The committee- di«ciis3ed the lixinj of the date of Ambulance Day, which for the last two years had taken pja.ee at tlie end of February. It was decided to apply provisionally for the date to be fixed lor Friday, March 2nd. subject to the permission of the City Council being obtained. On this date the annual appeal be made tor funds to assist the Association. A letter was received from the Automobile Association, declining to contribute towards the cost of obtaining an up-to-date rnoior ambulance, as so many calls had been made on the Association of late. ' The Secretary-Genera! of the Grand Priory of the Order of St. John in England wrote .referring in appreciative terras to the Red Cross work of oversea branches. The following members of the Association were nominated for recognition for long service by the Grand Priory of the Order: — Mrs H. H. Smith, Lieutenant-Colonels F. B. CTeewell and E. Jennings, Major J. It. Thomas, Captain M. G. Xjouisson, and Messrs p. G. Kichee and Wm. Pearce.
