SELWYN NURSING DIVISION. The Selwyn Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade met on Tuesday, Mrs Kuse«U occupying: -the chair. Tlvor© wore thirty-throe members present. The quarterly inspection o{ members was liold, after which Mrs Whittftker gave a lecture on "The Dotails of Nursing," which *aa thoroughly enjoyed by tho members. CHRISTCHUFtCH NURSING DIVISION. The fortnightly meeting of tho Christchurch Nuraing Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade was hold on Monday evening. Thecro was a good attendance of members, under Mies Mills, Lady Superintendent. A letter received from lira Datton, Ijady Superintendent in Chief, Brigade Overseas congratulating the district on the excellence of the work in tho competitions hold during the year. After the Division had been drilled by tho Corp Superintendent, the field kit was explained by the officer in chargo of equipment. At tho Mushl-and school committee there were present—Messrs D. Goode (chairman), "\Y. Blank, P. Basher, AY. LaJigc, and J. Boloeki. An apology was received for the absence of Mr O. Cliianall, who is on u visit to the "West Coast. Tho master's report stated that the averSigo attendance for the past month had'been 1!23 out of «v 101 l number of 139. It was decided to close tho school on Tuesday next for the long vacation, and to re-open on January 29th. Tho annual school treat, which had "lapsed for two years, was fixed for Wednesday, the 20th instant, and sub-committees were appointed to make tho necessary arrangements. It was resolved- to convey to the headmaster the congratulations of the committee on the result of the recent examination of a comparatively large class of Sixth Standard pupils, especially as there had been so many interruptions to school work through repeated outbreaks of Bcarlet j fever eince s April last. Messrs Basher, Boloeki, and Cliianall wore appointed a subcommittee to arrange for filling in hollows in the school grounds with, clay during the vacation. On the marks awarded at the Inspector's examination for proficiency certificates, Erneat Meyer is the dux boy for the year and Annie Boloski the dux girl, with Albert Schimanski and Myrtle Berry man as runnors-up respectively. General regret has been expressed that, on account of the prevalence of epidemics amongst tho childien, the school lost an opportunity of being raised a grade .and of having another teacher appointed.
