MEETINGS AND SOCIALS.

BELFAST SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The Belfast School Committee met. on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs Spencer (chairman), Blagloy, Child*. Lawn, Marshal!. Halligan, and Rev. T. M. Curnow. An I apology was received from iLr Clelland. The master reported tlie average attendance for the month: —MaJn school 112, infants SO. As a result of tho bottle campaign over 4.000 bottles had been, collected by th« children and forwarded to the Lady Liverpool depot. A vote of thanks was passed to Messrs Brown and Halliga-n for their kindnee* in carting the bottles to the Belfast £tatkra. Miss Brown, teacher ai -the infante' school, tendered her resignatJm, having been appointed to the Spreydon school. It was decided to close the school for Christmas holidays as from December 15th, reopening on January 29th. Tho visiting committee for the month aro Messrs Blagley and Rev. Curnow. OAK OF SYDENHAM LODGE. Tho half-yearly meeting of the U.A.0.D., Oak of Sydenham Lodge, No. 15, was held in the Friendly Society hall, A.D. Bro. McKenna presiding. Watson, Correspondence was received from Dr. Walter Thomas, resigning lii» position as medical officer of tlio lodge. Tho letter was received with regret, and tho secretary was instructed to write to Dr. Thomas thanking him for his past services to the lodge. NEW BRIGHTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE. A mooting of the New Brighton School Committee was held on Tuesday night. Present— Mr J. Christian (chairman), Meedames Clark and Beoby. and Messrs Sincock, Henry, Buxton, and Ward. It was decided to hold the concert in aid of the school prize fund on Thursday. December J 4th. Tho Borough Council wrote agreeing to the committee's application to take up a collection during tho course r.i ono of the municipal band con-i-ert*. Tho headmaster reported that at the main school the roll number was 486, with an average attendance of 434. and at tho North Beach school 4" and 43 resnectivelv. li v.-iM decided that tho cost of school prizes eliouid not exceed .£ls, and that they should be presented on the day the school breaks up. Sincock and Henry were appointed a Visiting Committee for the month.
