A CHRISTMAS APPEAL

little time aco the Lord Mayor M cJTLondon, acting for the authorities in London who are charged with maintaining the -work of raising funds for the reliof of the unhappy people of Belgium, sent out a circular letter asking for co-operation in a plan to raise a ipecial Christmas fund for the mitigation of the unhappinoss of the children in Belgium. This appeal has heen heard, and steps are being taken to raise money by the various bodies concerned with Belgian relief. The cxecntivo of the local Belgium Relief Fund is taking active steps to secure that Canterbury shall make a" good showing in a cau6o which is verv appropriate to tho present season. We have been asked to open d subscription list, and we do so very willingly. Every contribution sent in to "Tho Press" office will be acknowledged, and we trust that they will be many.
