WAIMAKARIRI RIVER BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Waimakariri River Board was held yesterday, the following being present: Messrs C. H. Opie (chairman), J. Leslie. A. S. Bruce, C. Burgess, N. K. Bowden, F. E. Jones, H. W. Peryrnan. The overseer's leport stated that there had been 20 ordinary floods in the river since tho last meeting of the Board, but no damage was done to the works, and no change had taken place in the course of tlie river. At present about three-parts of the river was going round the north branch, .leaving Mason's Flat with very little water. The work done during the last month included gnibbinjr, fencing, cleaning, and road forming. Two lessees approached the Board with reference to the cost of new fencing, and the Board decided to reduce the charge by one-half in one case, and one-third in the other.
