BELGIUM FUND.

RANGIOKA. At s a meeting, in the Borough Council Chambers last evening, the Mayor (Mr C. 1. Jennings) presiding, arrangements were made to distribute envelopes throughout tho borough for contributions towards the Belgium Christmas Fund, and to collect them withm a few dayß after Christmas. The distribution will be made a week before Christmas, and persons leaving home on holiday will oe asked to return the envelopes to tho Mayor before going • away. SHEFFIELD. In the unavoidable absence of the president, tho last meeting of the Patriotic Committee was presided over by Mr H. Townshend. There were present:—Mesdames Townshend, Wateon. 'Wright, Miller and Pole, and Messrs Townshend, Watson Wroth, Wright, and Miller, and Miss Jenkins. The secretary reported. having forwarded a truck of bottles to Christchurch, and the children, under the charge of Mr C. Wilkins, would be pleased to know that, as a result of their efforts, £5 9a was realised to further the work of the bandage class. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr John Deans, advising him that the committee had agreed ts colleci all scrap and waste materials in th© district for the benefit of > the Red Cross and Lady ' Liverpool Funds. Th© following meniHers agreed to canvass in their respective districts: Messrs Wright, Wroth, 'Watson, Jenkins, Judd, Townshend, and Miller-. It was also decided to make an appeal to th© fanners at the monthly sale to-morrow, to turn all such tna.Wrial into money, or else ta cart it to the nearest railway station for disposal on behalf of the Patriotic Funds. It was decided that a Patriotic Carnival and Flower and Vegetabl© Show be held, in the Domain on New Year's Day. Th© following sub-committees were appointed :—Flower and vegetables: Mrs Wright and Misses Jenkins and Gunn; refreshments: Mesdames Townshend, Jenkins, and McMillan; cookerv and nrodnce: Mesdames Miller, Wroth, and Pole; gift stall: Messrs Wright, Jenkins, and Judd; sports: Messrs L. T. Wrignt, Wroth and Townshend; side show: Messrs W. McMillan and Cnllen.
