The following goods, representing the work of the South Malvern Branch of the Hed Cross Society for the past month, have been forwarded to Christchurch: —3 dressing gowns, 16 day shirts, 6 t©>£y heltß, 17 socks, 3 faoe cloths, 11 nightshirts, 10 operating ooats, 16 pyjamas, 15 under shirts, 12 under pants, 4 pairs mittens, 2 scarves, 6 Balaclavas, 13 pillow caeca. There are 128 monthly subscribers, and the incom© is £26 per month. UPPER RICCARTON. A garden fete' is being organised 1 by the "Upper Riccarton Rod Cross workers, to raise funds to enable the branch to continue rtfi <g»od work. The fete will be held at BaTonsconrt, Upper Riccarton, Mr T. Kincaid s beautiful grounds, early next month. A full programme of attractions will be provided, and a largo quantity of Christmas goods will be on sale. ASHBURTON. The Asbburton County .Scottish Society gave an enjoyable concert in the Masonic Hall Ashburton, on Thursday evening, in aid of the local Red Cross Funds. Th«re was a good attendance, and Mi Robes, Bell, Chief of the Society, presided. The chairman, in bis opening address, stated that ta* Society had given the patriotio funds, practically all it had collected during, the past season the amount totalling £140, while it had hanicd over £8 or £9 "worth of eocks knitted by the lady m-emhera of the Society. SYDENHAM BRANCH. ANNUAL REPORT AND BALANCESHEET. The following is the first annual report of the Sydenham Branch, of the ■ Red. Cross Fund: — , On October 20th, 1915, a meeting was addressed by Messrs Flesher and Greeson regarding Red Cross work, and it was agreed by those present to form a Men's Committee to collect funds for the Sydenham Ladies Red Cross Branch. The district was divided into. four sections, which has since been canvassed by the various sub-committees and the collectors have made monthly visits to ■the many' subscribers with very satisfactory results. The whole of the district was eventually taken charge of 'by Mr J. Munday, whose energy, coupled with the willing helpers under his supervision, resulted in the amount of' £521 3s 6d having been collected. Waltham haa now been included in the Sydenham district, and th© results so fax are very promising. Twelve meetings have been held during the year, and have been fairly well attended, but the committee would be , pleased to have the' help of a few mar© | collectors whereby the funds could be greatly augmented. The money collectedj with the exception of the balance in hand, has • been handed over to the Ladies' Committee, whose great achievement in making nearly 19,000 articles for the wounded speaks for itself. Not one penny of the money collected haa been spent for printing circulars, petty cash, or any item whatsoever. The following is a list of the various articles which have been made during the year:—l4B pairs pyjamas, 138 shirts, 111 shorts, 377 eocks, 174 pants, 2552 handkerchiefs, 1354 face-cloths, 16 pairs oper. stockings, 8 pairs knee caps, 2 pairs pyjama girdles, 45 draw sheets, 48 mattress covers, 283 vests, 88 slings, 38 balaclavas, 233 bed jackets. 91 bed socks, 31 parcols old linen, 70 bodv belte, 34 night shirts, 27 scarves, 1 pair gfoveg, 16 pairs mittens, 20 pairs slippers, 83 treasure bags, 19 soldiers' bags, 2 hot water bags, 6 serviettes, 7 overcoats, 23 dressing gowns, 1038 bandages, 11,677 swabs, 7 pillow-cases, 74 milk covers, 8 dusters, 1 cushion, total 7235, exclusive of 11.G77 swabs. On. behalf of the Ladies' Committee, Mns R. W. Anderson wishes to thank the donors and collectors for the great help they have been in supplying and collecting funds, without which the goods forwarded could not havo been made, and also states that the Ladies' Committee ore prepared to double the amount of goods for the forthcoming year provided the necessary funds can be supplied.

The following is a statement of tho receipts and expenditure of the Men's Sydenham Red Cross Branch: — Receipts—Amounts collected by men, £443 18s 7d; sale of flag, ill; Library euchre matches, £12 5s 7d: doll-dressing competition, £1 3s; Sydenham Bowling Club, £3 13s: amounts handed iu by Mrs E. Anderson. £11 3s 6d; Girls' Friendly Society, £1 4s Od; picture benefits, £9 Ifo 6d: Oddfellows' parade, St. Saviour's Church. £3 13s; St. Saviour's Church, 13s 4d: Burgesses' Association, £2 "2s; Addington orchestral concert. £5 13s 6d; Sydenham Football Club. £ld; Rovers' concert, £4 H* 9d; total. £621 3s 6d. Expenditure—Material for making up goods, £423 0s od: soldiers' kite, £16; balance deposit in P.O. Savings Bank, £30; balance cash in treasurer's hands. £52 3s Id; total £521 Ss 6d. It will be noted that none of the funds subscribed has been used for expenses. ■
