AFRICAN CAMPAIGNS.
THE WESTERN SOUDAN. A DECISIVE VICTORY. ("Tiinea" and "Sydney Sun" Service*.} LONDON, June 4. The Sirdar estimates that the forces defeated at Berincia totalled 2600. The enemy losses were heavier than at first reported, the cavalry suffering severely. Three thousand two hundred rifles were confiscated, and arms are still arriving. The captures include four guns, and 45,000 rounds of ammunition. Half the normal population of 55 ,000 have already returned to the town. A message received on May 28th announced that Colonel Kelly, with a mixed force? ' defeated the troops of Ali Dinar, Sultan, of Dar Fur, in the village of Berincia, twelve miles to the north of El Fashar, the Sultan's capital. The enemy's strength wgs then given at between 2000 and 3000 men, and their losses were estimated at 1000.
