A comprehensive work on farming in New Zealand is, according to Mr W. H. Field, M.P., badly needed for tho general guidance of the many men on the land. Speaking at a dinner held at Levin in connexion with the Wellington Farmers' Union Conference, Mr Feild stated that in the "Agricultural Journal" from time to time, valuable articles appeared dealing in a scientific and interesting manner with various phases of the farming industry. These articles were widely read as they appeared, but usually, when they were actually required by the farmer for reference tppv were not to be found. It would be* a valuable step if these were published in book form by the Government, together with other articles which might be thought necessary. He commended the suggestion to the conference.
