ARRANGEMENTS FOR. SATURDAY
(srECIAI. TO "the press.") . WELLINGTON, May 31. Tho. Hon. G. W. Russell states that the arrangements are fairly complete for the opening of the Hanmer Springs Convalescent Home for returned .soldiers on Saturday afternoon. A special train will leave Christchurch at 8.15 a.m. to enable members of Parliament arriving by the Maori to attend tho ceremony. The train will reach Culvorden at 10 30-a.m,. and passengers will be transported by motor-cars to Hanmer The Minister has communicated with the Automobile Association at Christchurch, the Farmers' Union, and the A. and P. Association at Waiau. and other local bodies in the district, asking them to give assistance in the conveyance by motor-cars to and from Hanmer. Passengers will return by motor to Culverden, leaving there at 4.3-5 p.m.. and arriving in Christchurch at 6.50 p.m., in timo to catch the steamer for Weiiington. ' The Minister adds that the Mayor of Christchurch has communicated with him expressing a desire, on behalf of I the Patriotic Society, to present a piano to the institution. Tho Minister is also in tion with some Christchurch gentlemen with a view to having a billiard table installed for the benefit of the occupants.
