ADDINGTON. The circuit quarterly mooting was held at Lincoln road Church on Tuesday, when there ivns a good attendance of officers. Thy Rev. T. AV. Vealie presided, and the lior. W. Harris was also in attendance. The chairman made j'oeling reference to the recent loss liy death of three church mombere, and ja suitable resolution of condolence v.as directed to be conveyed to the relatives. A motion of sympathy with Mr B. Gott hi his illness was also paasced. The balajjcc-slieot, showing a credit of over £7 on the quarter, was received and adopted. Sunday school and Society reports generally were of an encouraging nature. In connexion with the Hjilswell Church, a slight rearrangement- was agreed to. It was reported that the Foreign Mission deputation would be in the circuit on May "Bth. and the week following. A communication relative to the "Methodist. Times" was considered, and officers were urged to encourage the circulation of the paper. The quarterly meeting of officebearers of the Leeston Methodist- circuit was presided -over by the llov. W. A. Sinclair, of Christ-church, and there was a good attendance. Reports on Sunday school work were of an encouraging nature. The church membership report, was also considered satisfactory. Tho financial statement presented by Mr 1. \V. Ma\vson ; showed a credit on the quarter's working. Two letters were received asking for financial assistance for carrying on church woik at- tiie, Expeditionary Force training camps. It was stated that the Conference, had empowered the "Wellington Military Committee to make an appeal to all circuits throughout the Dominion. The church had a chaplain stationed at both Trent-ham and Featherston, and the working expenses ior stationery for the men, lighting, heating, insurance, ctc., were heavy. A stun of £600 was required. The chairman 6ai«l it should be made quite clear that- the money was not required for the payment of chaplains' salaries, as they received their salaries from the Government. It was decided to take retiring collections on Easter Sunday in all churches throughout the circuit. It was aJso decided to make an effort to increase the circulation of the "Methodist Times." Feeling reference was made to the death of Mr George Lill, who was described as the father of Methodism in Dnnsandel. and a resolution of sympathy with Mrs Lill and family, the secretary being instructed to convey the resolution by letter. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the chairman for his efforts in securing the reappointment of tho Rev. W. Gngg as minister of the Leeeton circuit. The chairman reported that the missionary spirit in the .Methodist Church had be- ! come very strong. The Foreign Mis- | sion collections for the Dominion had increased by 40 per cent, last year, and tho Home Mission collections by a very substantial stun. The usual votes of thanks were passed. DURHAM STREET. Tho circuit quarterly meeting of the Durham street Methodist Church was held on Thursday, the Rev. P. Knight presiding over a good attendance of officials. The pastoral report showed the number of members on the roll to bo '2G5, a flight increase on tho previous quarter. The income for the quarter "Wa-s £172. After meeting all circuit £65 was transferred to the Trust I'und Account. It was agreed to make an effort to strengthen tho lienevoient Fund, with a view of relieving necessitous cases in the district. The chairman reported that the church .anniversary would be celebrated on April 16th. Arrangements were made for Foreign Mission services and meetings during the coming quarter. Appeals for financial assistance from the Prohibition Council and tho Military Committee of the Church were favoidably received, and arrangements made whereby assistance could be given. Mrs G. Loiune having resigned from the superin tendency of tho .junior Christian Endeavour Society, the meeting placed on rc:-ord its very high appreciation of her services.
