Th® monthly meeting of the Christchurch Domain Board was held yesterday afternoon. Present: Mr H. J, Keswick (in the chair),, Dr. Levinge, Messrs Holland, J. Brown, J. J. Graham, W. 'H. 'Wins. or, J. Longton, .J. Ashley, F. J. Oarr, George Harper, and W. H. Walters.

Mr F. A. Andorion wrote from Trentham. resigning his position as representative of the lieathtoto County Council, owiug to his having enlisted. The resignation was accepted with regret.,

The Curator (Mr -J. Young) reported that the.autumn p:opagation work had been almost completed. The planting of spring-flowering shrubs was also veil advanced, and a large number of bulbs had been planted o-.i the river bank opposite tiie Gardens. He suggested that a border be i'onr.oci near the Museum, to bo faced with btone and planted with rhododendrons, and the front avenue be re-formed from the Museum to the river. A valuable collection (if bu.bs had been received from Mr A. E. Ixiwe. of Otah'inn. The work in the South Park would be completed bv next week.

It was decided t:> leave the question of interviewing the Baard of Governors <.r Canterbury C<Alt-co with reference to their assisting in the work of re-form-mg the avenue, and the improvement ol the ground new lying between the College property and the Domain, in the hands of the chairman, and the question of re-form in*' the avenue was referred to the Gardens Committee.

'Applications were received for reduction of rentii from the "Rugby Union and the United Bovrling Club. The Rugby Union, represented by Mr F. T. Evan? and ?.!> C. W. Hervey. waited on the Board, and stated that owing to the large number of senior players who had gone to the war. the finances of the various clubs were sevorelv affected. The footballers of Canterbury had sent. 101 p players to the front, and -were restricting the competitions this year to .junior players, who were not in a position to keep the game going as were the others. Jt was decided to reduce the rent (XMO) by 50 per cent. It was resolved to grant- a reduction of 25 pe>- eent. to the Ci'i-'ket Association, nnd the United Bowl in a, Tennis, and Croquet Club, the chairman and jVTr Graham dissenting.
