THE ALL-FOR-EMPIRE LEAGUE.

TO THE EDITOR OF "THE TRESS."

Sir, —Some months ago, after the war broke out, you had a leading article on the subject of trading within the Empire. As a result of that article a meeting of citizens was held in the Chamber of Commerce Hall, and certain resolutions were arrived at. Since then, though you have referred to the subject more than once, the bodies which have dealt with the matter seem to me to have .played right round the subject. The Commercial Travellers' Association are entitled to the heartiest congratulations on their action as displayed in their manifesto published in your columns to-day. This is the most businesslike _ proceeding in connexion with trading within tho Empire that has taken place in this Dominion, and seeing the class of men it is not to be w'ondered at that they have come to such resolutions. There is only one other c'ause that I can think of they should have' adopted, and that is this: That the inhuman actions of the Germans should be inculcated into th© minds of all school children. They should certainly be given lessons on the fate of Belgium, Serbia, Poland, and other places devastated by the Huns. I hope to find that the manifesto of the Commercial Travellers' Association will be printed in large type, and- in the meantime hung up in every school in the Dominion. Bravo, Commercial Travellers! I trust, that the manifesto, moreover, will be circulated by the Association throughout the Empire.— Yours, etc., , . ALL-BRITISH. Christchurch, February 11th.
