DEPARTING SOLDIERS.

■'Mr Laurence W. Gee (son of the Chief Postmaster, at Nelson), an undergraduate of Canterbury Colloge, left .Christchurch for Trentham, with tho Twelfth Reinforcements, last Wednesday. Private C. J. Taylor (late editor of tho "Ellesmere Guardian," and subsequently editor of the "Pull-Thro," the Samoan Relief Force publication), who has recently returned from twelve months' service at Samoa, leaves Christchurch to-night for Trentham to join the Eleventh Reinforcements. Private Taylor's military services prior to Samoa were three years as a captain in the South African University Cadets, two years as a lieutenant in tho Capo Town Engineers, and two years as a lieutenant in the Cape Garrison Artillery. , Another employee of Messrs Booth, Macdonald and Co., Ltd.. in the person of Mr Walter Turner, was farewelled by his co-workers in the Carlyle Implement Works. Christchurch, on Friday evening, when he was presented with a wristlet watch with luminous face, also a safety-razor shaving outfit, by ilr Fred. £>• Hall, on behalf of his shop-mates. Mr Hall, in handing over the gifts, expressed the sentiments -of his mates, in wishing Mr Turner his full share of fightiug and subsequent honour, and a safe return. Mr Turner who suitably replied, is the seventeenth member of the Carlyle Implement Works to go to tho front.
