No. 10.—South: Js'o appointments. BUILDERS' GROUP. A general meeting of members of Xo. 1 Section, Timber, Building, and Furniture Trades' Group, was held on Saturday evening at the Art Gallery. Mr Gos-s presided. ' There x was a large attendance, including many ladies. The chairman welcomed the newcomers, and stated that- the objent of the fund was worthy of the utmost support of all. Reports were presented by tho secretary and treasurer, showing that funds were coming in at a very satisfactory rate. The Badge Committee reported that 1700 badges had been issued to date. Mr McMurraj* reported that the subcommittee appointed to consider ways and means had docidcd to recommend tho holding of a grand bazaar and jumble sale on Friday and Saturday, February 18th and 19th, in the King Edward Ban*acks, if procurable. In reply to questions, tho chairman stated that while it was the intention of the present executive that the funds raised in Canterbury should be devoted to the relief of Canterbury soldiers, no guarantee could be given that the various funds throughout the Dominion might not be merged at some .future time, and that such n proceeding would woi;k out greatly to the advantage pf Canterbury. He believed that it would bo found necessary to draw on both .the capital and interest of tho fnnd to kcct> up the scale of relief adopted. Messrs H. J. Nightingale, ft. Soott, and J. B. Johns were added to the Badge Committee, as Builders' representatives, and Messrs A. K. England and C. E. Otley as the Timber Merchants' representative^. It was decided to nnply to the Mayor for permission to hold an open-air sale of badges. Messrs W. Goss, R. Scott, and EArchboid were appointed a sub-commit-tee, to nominate the Queen of the section. Several ladies' names were added to the Jumble Committee, and Mr MeMurray undertook to see tl'.Vit materials for working up articles for sale were provided.
