COALGATE FETE.
A Tiioci inrr of the Coalgatp Fcto Commiticc was held in the Connate produce shed on Thursday evening. The motion on tho minutes that voluntary subscriptions be taken ;it the {rates was rescinded, and it was decided to make a charge of one «liiilins for adults and to udmit children under fourteen fi"ce. It was announced that Mr and Mrs John Deanshad promi«?d a silver iuu<?, suitably inscribed, to be presented on I:'-elo Day to tho winning candidate ii: tho Baby Carnival. It ra.i decided to ask Mr W. J. "Dickie. M.P., tor Selwyn, to innke the presentation. It wbi loft in the- hands of •Mesrtrs John and James Deans to niako arrangements for the ceremony. Mr Ja3. Deans reported tliat ho had approached tho auctioneers concerning a, Mock Court, and that, they had agreed to c\irry out the arrangements. The matter cf the representation of the committee on the County Patriotic Committee was brought up, and it was left in the liantU of tho locul Patriotic Committee to deal with. At this stage the mcetinjr adjourned for a tow minutes to allow tho ladies to make arr:»n£emout.!» in rcspcoi to tho working of tho various stalls. Oil resuming, tho chairman announced that all the books and blocks in tho 13aby Carnival must bo in by noon on the day of tho Kc(o. It was decided that tho votinpr for the Baby Carnival clo»*» at 2 u.m. on l'ete Dav. Messrs •T. Todd. MclfOU{*hlin, D. Kcstcven, and J. Ilarri3 weio added to tho conimittce.
