DEFENCE CONTRACTS ALLEGATIONS.

GOVERNMENT
SERIOUS CHARGES
(Received May 26th, 9 p.m.) MELBOURNE, May 26. In connexion with allegations regarding defence contracts, made in the High Court, indictments have been issued by the Attorney-General (the Hon. W. M. Hughes) against Arthur Kidman, of Sydney, alleging forgery and uttering in tho matter of certain documents and tenders for military supplies, and against the same defendant, together with Major Arthur George O'Donnell and Sergeant Leslie, of Sydney, alleging conspiracy to cheat aud defraud the Commonwealth of large sums of money in connexion with the supply of good 6 for the Defence Forces of the Commonwealth, and by procuring that the Commonwealth should pay excessive prices for such goods. Tho indictments allege >four conspiracy offences, and, against Arthur Kidman, two charges of forgery and uttering between August, 1914, and the current month.
