ORGAN RECITAL.
* Last night at His Majesty's a Wagner programme was played by Dr. Bradshaw, but the crowded houses in- ' variably associated with the same at- i traction in former years arc to be found no longer. The largest part of the recital was devoted to extracts from "Tho Flying Dutchman," including the overture and tho "Spinning Chorus" as tho most popular nnmbero. In "Tho Flying Dutchman" Wagners emancipation from the old style of opera is yet incomplete, while the two preludes to "Tristan and Isolde" and "The Dusk of the Gods" which were both very tastefully performed, reveal the work of the master after he had definitely broken with, tradition anH had felt himself free from its influences absolutely. Neverthelese tho overture to "The Flying Dutchman" and "Senla's Ballad" particularly is great music that never fails to enchant at. every re-
