ASHBURTON MARKET.
Thoro has been very little life in the- market during the- past week, and as prices for both wheat and oats are hardly maintained, the volumo of business passing is very small for this period of the season. Wheat —Nominally, values may bo quoted as on a nar with last week's quotations, although a number of buyers are "off" the market and others ore only 'buyers when they can do so to advantage. Quotations: —Tuscan 6s 4d to 6s o<l. Hunter* <>s Od, Pearl Gs 7d, whole Ion! wheat Cs, on trucks country stations. Oats—The Southland crop is nonoffering freely and prices are much below Canterbury quotes, which is having the effect of TestrintinK business in Canterbury considerably. Present values may bo quoted as from 3s fid to 3a Be], 'on trucks, for Gartens.. 3s 9d to 3s lOd for prime Duns, 3s od to .Is 6d for Danish. Chaff—The demand is steady, but owiug to the lower value of oats there is a tendency for the market to weaken a little.' Prime ouality is worth £5 los, on tracks", lighter as to 10s per ton lower.
