ASHBURTON RAM AND EWE FAIR.
The annual ram and ewe fair held in connei-ion with the Ashburton ; County Saleyards Company, took- place j at the Tinwald yards on. Thursday, | when there was only a moderate attend- j ance. The entry of ewes numbered j about 13,807 as against 9261* .last year, but the demand was very limited, and a large proportion of the yarding was passed at auction, but several j lines were sold privately after the sale. For young ewes there was a fair demand, but for aged and travelled ewes there was absolutely no sale. The yarding of rains was in excess of the demand, and a large proportion failed to find j buyers, what sales were made being |
done privately. Tho following is tho range of prices of the one and twoshear rams disposed of; English Lcicesters, Ign to 4_gns; Border Leicesters, Signs to 4sns; Shropshires and Southdowns, 2'gns to 3igns: Romneys.
