MOUNT HERBERT.
The monthly meeting of the Mount Herbert County Council took place on Monday at the Council Chambers, Purau. Present: Messrs Orton Bradley (chairman), G. Steel, L. M. Wilson. Q. C. Manson, J. Hunter, J. A. j Gellety, and It. Allan. The chair- | man reported that he had visited all ' the plantations, and found them doing well. Hβ had selected several other spots that could be planted this winter with advantage, if the Council gave him permission to do so. The chairman was thanked for the trouble that he had tnken in the matter, and per-, mission was given for additional plant-' ins. It was resolved to re-deck the bridge at Tedtlington. The clerk reported that the acquisition of the land at Teddington for a -workman's cottage and pound had advanced another step, and would soon be gazetted. He had only been able to devote one day to collecting for the Belgian Fund, and , had collected or been promised upwards j of £200. The clerk was urged to com- j pleto collecting as soon as possible. j
