OBITUARY.
MR J. G. MURRAY
Thero passed away last Friday at Cashmere Hills an oid Canterbury settler in the person of Mr J. G. Murray. AVith his father and mother and their fannJy the late Mr Murray, wuo was then about fifteen years of age, arrived in tho Dominion by the Labuan in 1851. Some time afterwards he started farming on the Middle Lincoln road in partnership with Mr R. Wright,-with whom, some years afterwards, he removca to Xiincoln, and farmed part of the area which is now, included in the Lincoln College Farm. Later Mr Murray had a- farm at Greenpark, and for many years held the whole of the Lake Flat run: Until recently Mr Murray held what is known as Rabbit Island (Motukiirara). When Mr Murray gave up farming 'he resided- on Cashmere Hills. ■ For several -j'ears he was a member of the Hospital Board and of the Charitable Aid Board. He married Miss Gebbie, of the Peninsula, who survives him. Hejeaves a;. family of three sons aud four daughters, the sons being. Mr Geo. Murray, who owns a run in tho Mackenzie Country, Mr Charles Murray, owner of part of the Flaxbourne Estate, and Mr A. J. Murray, owner of Woodbank Station. The late Mr Murray's daughters are Mrs Polleston. of New South Wales, Mrs Bittson Thomas, of Flaxbourne, Mrs Ha-.vkes, of Christchurch, and Miss Emily Murray. Cashmere Hills. Tho late Mr Murray was 79 years of age, and celebrated" his golden wedding nhnut six months a<ro The which took place at Hnlswell on Sunday, was larjrely attended, many people from Little River being present.
