VESSEL AND CARGO CONDEMNED.
CRcceiv&d December 23rd, 1.35 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 22. Tho Chief Justice-, in delivering reserved judgment in tho Zambesi case, said tho Zambesi was a British ship, registered in London on August sth. German officials at Nauru. received wiroless information that Germany was at war with Britain, Franco and Russia. Tho result was that tho agent at Nauru placed tho ship at tho disposal of an onomy Government for purposes of a most hostilo character. Not only had the agent and the enemy Government carried on' n. mission for tho completion of wireless apparatus at Ralaul for tho purpose of important maintenance of communication between Berlin and tbo outlying riossessions of tho German Empire, and alto for intercommunication between these sions and- ships of the- enemy carrying wireless, but tho same agent v-ae carrying despatches of tho utmost importance. Furthermore tho agent actually sab-chartered the ship to an enemy Government. Therefore he held that tho Federal Government's clnim lor tho condemnation of tho ship and her cargo should bo sustained.
